The Product Underwriting Legal team at AIG is seeking an experienced attorney to join as a Product Counsel. This individual will play a key role in developing market leading products for AIG through drafting and developing proprietary policies and endorsements. The role will require collaboration with various teams within AIG, including the North America and International Insurance line of business legal teams, as well as external stakeholders. The successful candidate will have a legal degree and current qualifications/licenses, as well as experience advising on complex insurance wording and transactions. They should also possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Job Title: Product Counsel - Product Underwriting Legal Job Type: Full Time Location: New York, NY; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Boston, MA; Jersey City, NJ Salary: $160,000 - $190,000 (plus bonus) Experience: Legal degree and current qualifications/licenses required, experience advising on insurance wording and transactions, strong communication and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: - Draft and develop proprietary AIG policies and endorsements, and support compliance and regulatory filings. - Provide advice and guidance to the Chief Underwriting Office in adopting new policies and endorsements. - Collaborate with various teams to develop AIG policies and endorsements based on market needs and to address specific client exposures. - Work with GLCR colleagues to address legal, regulatory, and compliance issues related to product development and policy wording. - Conduct policy and endorsement training for AIG underwriting staff. - Ensure clear and unambiguous wording reflects underwriting intent. - Identify and address exposure trends in policies and endorsements. - Coordinate policy and endorsement drafting and discussions with internal and external stakeholders. - Support the development of guidelines and authorities for comprehensive product and wording governance. - Maintain a repository of policies and endorsements. - Drive remediation of existing policies and endorsements. Requirements: - Legal degree and current qualifications/licenses. - Experience advising on complex insurance wording and transactions within tight deadlines. - Ability to work in a team environment and prioritize projects. - Strong communication skills, both written and oral. - Proactive problem solver with attention to detail. - Curiosity and eagerness to learn. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research databases.
