Organization - Family Partnerships of Central Florida Reporting Relationships Reports to: Chief Executive Officer Direct Reports: Contracts and Compliance Team Indirect Reports: None Budgetary Responsibilities: None Summary: The Chief Legal Officer at Family Partnerships of Central Florida (FPOCF) is responsible for providing internal legal counsel and acting as a legal liaison to contracted legal firms. This position ensures compliance with child welfare statutory, regulatory, judicial, and ethical standards and provides legal consultation. The Chief Legal Officer also completes adoption finalizations for children served in the FPOCF System of Care. This position reports directly to the CEO and serves on the executive team. Job Title: Chief Legal Officer - Brevard, Orange, Osceola, Seminole Counties Location: Rockledge, FL, 32955 Job ID: 27742494 Annual Salary: $120,000 Responsibilities: - Provides internal legal counsel to the Board of Directors, CEO, management, and staff on various legal matters, including corporate issues, contract interpretation and drafting, and compliance with laws and regulations. - Identifies and mitigates risk by serving on the Level 2 Risk Management and Board Risk Management Committee and providing recommendations for resolution. - Conducts research and analysis on contractual, legal, and policy matters to develop alternatives in support of FPOCF's objectives. - Completes adoption finalizations for children and families in the FPOCF System of Care. - Provides training on courtroom etiquette and legal components of child welfare, such as laws related to abuse, neglect, and adoption. - Offers legal analysis and court appearances as needed to ensure compliance with regulations and statutes. - Interfaces with external agencies and represents FPOCF's best interests to ensure compliance with regulations and statutes. - Provides leadership and supervision to the Contracts and Compliance Team. - Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements: - Minimum of 15 years of legal experience, with a preference for experience in child welfare. - Superior verbal and written communication skills. - In-depth understanding of Florida Statute, Chapter 39, Chapter 63, and Chapter 409, Florida Administrative Code, and federal regulations related to child welfare. - Prior trial/court room experience. - Ability to analyze systems and procedures to make legal aspects more efficient and responsive. - Admission to the Florida Bar. Education and Experience: - JD - Juris Doctorate required. - 15+ years of legal experience required. - Minimum of 10 years of experience in the Florida Child Welfare System preferred. Physical Requirements: - Lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds. - Ability to reach, sit, stand, stoop, crouch, bend, and kneel. - Near acuity, reading, speaking, listening, typing, and writing.
