'A bankruptcy legal secretary is someone who works in a secretarial or administrative capacity for an attorney or law office that handles bankruptcy and creditors' rights matters. Bankruptcy legal secretaries typically perform traditional secretarial tasks such as typing, dictation, answering the phones, and keeping track of calendars and schedules. Sometimes bankruptcy legal secretaries also handle matters more traditionally handled by paralegals, such as document production. A bankruptcy legal secretary plays a very important role and his or her particular job description is often tailored to the particular attorney for whom he or she works.

Bankruptcy Legal Secretary

Specific knowledge of bankruptcy filing and procedure preferred. Basic knowledge of Elite Enterprise and Adobe preferred. Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint essential. Litigation Bankruptcy Legal Secretary
The candidate will coordinate schedules, draft legal documents and update calendars. Will process expense reports, answer telephone calls and take messages and special projects. File and coordinate case filing projects with the assigned file clerks if applicable. Should have high School Diploma required for this role. 2 or 4 year undergraduate degree is preferred but not required. Should have 2-3 years' experience in working as a legal secretary in a law firm working in the litigation/bankruptcy group using ECF and preparing Motions and Orders required. Should have experience in both litigation and bankruptcy practices. Experience in working with various practice and case management databases (iManage), and timekeeping and billing systems (Elite) is essential. Must type 65 WPM and have exceptional computer skills and proficiency using Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe Software, setting up conference / video teleconference calls and calendar appointment scheduling.
Bankruptcy Legal Secretary
The candidate will be responsible for a variety of secretarial support from troubleshooting, creating and editing complex documents, spreadsheets and presentations, submitting specialized conflicts, entering attorney time, creating zip files, converting documents from Word to PDF and proofreading, to transcribing tapes into letters, reports, marketing presentations and supporting handouts. Create, revise and format complex legal documents, spreadsheets and presentations, adhering to Firm policy and guidelines. Troubleshoot documents. Answer questions and provide technical help when required. Convert documents from Word to PDF or from PDF to Word. Clean-up and format scanned documents. Proofread work for accuracy prior to routing or returning to attorneys/employees. Provide secretarial support to attorneys as requested, including answering phones, time entry, scanning, PDF'ing documents, copying, faxing and other clerical duties as required. Transcribe tapes into letters, reports, marketing presentations and supporting handouts. Submit specialized conflicts.
The candidate must have 3 + years of work experience as a Bankruptcy Legal Secretary in a law firm. Should have accurate typing skills of a minimum of 55 wpm, along with strong word processing skills utilizing Microsoft Word 2010, Outlook 2010, Excel, PowerPoint, docketing software and client relationship management software. Proficiency with .pdf Docs, FileSite/Interwoven Document Management Systems, Microsoft Outlook and CMS Time Entry is must.
Bankruptcy Legal Secretary
