'A paralegal internship is a job in which someone “interns” as a paralegal. During a paralegal internship, the intern works under the direction of a paralegal and “learns the ropes” of being a paralegal. Paralegal internships are generally unpaid and last for a limited duration of time, such as a summer or a few months. A paralegal internship is a perfect position for someone who is thinking about pursuing a career as a paralegal and wants to get real-world experience before making the commitment. Paralegals work under the direction of attorneys in various practice areas and help attorneys get their work done as effectively and efficiently as possible.

Paralegal Internship

Paralegal Internship

The Court offers an internship opportunity for students currently enrolled in paralegal schools, colleges and universities. Works in the Traffic division. Interns may assist with the preparation of legal documents for cases involving child support, spousal support and health insurance issues. Delivers and picks up court records and documents to and from various courtrooms, sections and other court sites. Unpacks, picks up, distributes and stores forms and supplies; assists in maintaining court stockroom. Provides support for other clerical staff. Be assigned a variety of assignments for the purpose of training and development. Should have completed prerequisite course in Civil Litigation and/or Family Law. The program requires interns to commit to at least one semester and work 12+ hours/week.

Paralegal Internship

The candidate will be shadowing senior consultant solicitor and Head of Islamic Department, Duncan Lewis and working with her team. Will be attending court and barristers' chambers. Using Case management software; opening, managing and reviewing case files, producing letters, legal documents, invoices, Bundles for Court. Calls with clients, courts, barristers and third parties. Attending events with in Houses of Parliament, Government Departments, media interviews etc. Project management e.g. a community awareness campaign. Creating precedent banks. Organising seminars, mailing groups, media requests, meeting Judges, QCs, Members of Parliament. Drafting blogs and articles. Areas covered - Family, Civil, Inheritance, International, Islamic. Should have an excellent academic record (including 2:1 law degree). Should have high written proficiency, proof checking and producing quality documents. Must have experience of working in a fast-paced and demanding office environment.

Summer Paralegal Internship

The student will assist case review and preparation. Shall be reviewing and preparing correspondence. Preparing discovery, typing and modifying documents, preparing case folders and trial binders, locating and interviewing witnesses, client intake and maintaining files. Shall be answering phones, sorting and distributing incoming mail, preparing outgoing mail, processing fee payments, scheduling consultations between attorneys and clients, running small office errands.
The candidate shall possess a degree in High school or equivalent. Paralegal coursework in an accredited secondary program of 1 year. Should have fluency in English. Have a demonstrated interest in the law or paralegal studies.

Paralegal Internship

The students matriculating in Paralegal studies may put course work into practice by interning to assist attorneys. Any experience relevant to criminal law would be a plus.
