The whole story is that Pearson brought some suits in for cleaning, but when he went to pick them up, one pair of his pants was missing. He asked the cleaners to pay him for the suit, but they later found the pants (which he said were not his pants) and refused to pay. He then sued them for $15,000 which he believed would reimburse him for having to drive to an adjacent town to go to the dry cleaners. The rest of the $65 million is made up of fines that Pearson says the dry cleaners owe because of a Washington consumer protection law.

The law suit, which seems incredibly silly and more than a tad bit dramatic, has been going on for two years now. The South Korean owners of the dry-cleaning business have made it clear that they wish for Pearson to be disbarred and removed from his position because of the abusive nature of the suit.

The Korean family has owned their dry-cleaning business for seven years, but now they are thinking of abandoning their business and moving home. They have offered to settle with Pearson three different times, offering $3,000, $4,600, and $12,000.

"They're out a lot of money, but more importantly, incredibly disenchanted with the system," Chris Manning, the Korean family's attorney, told The Associated Press. "This has destroyed their lives."

The case will go to trial on June 11.
