According to court documents, "a large quantity of FTP marijuana, scales, numerous marijuana pips, water bongs, large sums of U.S. currency and four firearms were found in the residence. The home is located 797 feet from Clayton Middle School."
James Robinson had started working for the Salt Lake City only about a year-and-a-half back. Salt Lake County district attorney, Sim Gill, said, "He was the civil attorney for Salt Lake City, and he was also the appointed attorney to work with the Salt Lake City Police Department as their representative and their adviser."
The operation was discovered when police responded to a burglary complaint at the residence of the attorney who invited police to his home. Officers who went to respond to the burglary complaint notice strong odor of marijuana and saw bongs and other drugs paraphernalia in plain view. Later, police obtained a search warrant and raided the house.
During their search the police found "several pounds of marijuana, dozens of bongs, grinders, pipes, rolling papers, scales, multiple containers bearing marijuana residue, and $26,230 in cash bound in bundles located in various places around the home."
Gill said a lab setting was also found which was being used to distill THC into its raw form. The officers also found a marijuana byproduct commonly known as "Dab" or "Shatter" which is much stronger than regular marijuana. The police found a pressure cooker in the basement with hoses leading to an air compressor. They also found butane torches, glass tubes, and a glass with "Dab" residue.
In the room of James Robinson, police found a 9 mm handgun and a vile containing cocaine. In the rooms of his sons police found marijuana, cash, scales, a vacuum sealer and other drug paraphernalia. While Robinson knew how to become a successful civil litigation attorney, he failed in other vital areas of life.
