Former Norton Rose partner joins Al Salam Bank as GC
Bahrain-based Al Salam Bank hired international law firm Norton Rose's former partner designate, Mohammed Paracha, as the bank's Executive Vice President and General Counsel. Paracha, after a six-year stint at Norton Rose's headquarters in London, shifted base to the Bahrain office to lead the regional Islamic finance team. Sungard on the lookout for Asia GC
Sungard, a company dealing in software, is on the lookout for a senior lawyer with mergers and acquisitions experience to lead its Asia-Pacific legal team as general counsel—a newly created position for Asia. Currently, Howard Wallis, General Counsel for Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, supervises the company's Asian transactions. Sungard's hunt targets forward-looking individuals who will be able to control the company's operations from China to New Zealand and Australia. At present, only 5 percent of the company's $4 billion total revenue comes from the Asia-Pacific connection, which the company envisages fortifying in the near future.
